Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in P17 as his team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, turning around through the quick descending corner approaching the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
